Todmorden harrier Paul Brannigan won his second Yorkshire silver medal of 2014 with second place in the Yorkshire Vets cross country championships. Brannigan, competing in the age 50-54 category, achieved this despite getting lost on the second lap. He realised his mistake when he found himself joining the back markers and then gave chase to catch the leading group. He fought his way back to 5th with a lap to go then overtook all but the winner, UK no. 1 ranked 10,000m runner Simon Wright of Doncaster, in the last half a mile.
