The popular Yorkshireman marathon and half marathon took place in Haworth on Sunday. With both distances attracting over 400 runners in teams of two and solo runners, its a popular event attracting runners from all over the country. 12 Toddies were among the starters. In the full marathon teams event, Catherine Elvin teamed with Sally Chesworth to finish in 11th spot in a time of 5.25.49.
5 Toddies took on the full Marathon distance as solo runners with Mark Rochester finishing first Toddy back in a time of 3.56.12 to give him 16th place out of 127 runners. Ben Holmes was 46th with 4.34.33; Mel Blackhurst finished in 4.56.36 after starting in the team event with Lucy (Lucy had to retire); Jo Daniels in 69th place in 5.11.46; Kirsty Pattern in 80th place in 5.23.07 and Elizabeth Brocke in 105th with a time of 5.56.14
Over in the Half Marathon, 255 runners took part with 3 Toddies amongst them. Peter Kerridge was first Toddy back, finishing in 20th place with a time of 2.01.40. Richard Butterwick finishedin 87th place with a time of 2.25.08 and Nigel Jamieson was in 107th place with a time of 2.31.55.
