Midgley Moor Fell Race, 25 Feb 2017
Race Report by Darren Graham
With 1200ft of climbing, crammed into 5 miles, the Midgley Moor fell race is a tough nut of a race. With a merciless climb from the start at Booth Cricket Club, the race heads straight up onto the moor over Crow Hill, heading past Churn Milk Joan, to Sheepstones Edge. There, the race heads over towards Dimmin Dale Edge and drops back down towards the track leading to Lowe House. The route heads then back up the moor and then finishes with a fast descent back to the cricket club house. 7 Toddies took part with Andrew Worster finishing 2nd, pipped at the post by 4 seconds by Phil Marsden of Horwich Harriers. The result of the day must go to Claire Duffield who was 1st lady with a time of 55.43. A great performance from her. She has proved that hard work and positive training throughout injuries will give you results! Along with Claire, Rosie Holdsworth and Helen Hogkinson managed to secure the Womens team prize. Andrew Worster, Matt Flanagan and Dave Collins claimed 2nd spot in the Mens team. Toddy results are…..
• Andrew Worster – 43.18
• Matt Flanagan – 49.32
• Dave Collins – 54.23
• Matt Annison – 55.21
• Claire Duffield – 55.43
