Wednesday night saw the Widdop Fell race return. A tough, 7 mile moorland challenge that goes over a lot of rough ground. This year was made harder by lots of overgrown paths, hard ground and an overwhelming presence of bracken. The weather had been hot during the day but a cooling breeze was a welcome presence for all runners. 67 runners turned up on the night with 7 Toddies included.
Paul Waterhouse was the first Toddy to finish in 27th place. Rebecca Patrick was second overall lady and also first woman vet 50 to finish in 30th place. Todmorden also took the second-place team, narrowly being beaten by Stainland Lions by just 1 point. Martin Howard (Calder Valley) was first male (0:49:38) and Helen Smith (Wharfedale Harriers) was first lady (0:59:42).
