Lakes In A Day, Saturday 7th Oct

Louise Greenwood took on the mighty Lakes in a Day ultra distance challenge on Saturday. The 50 mile route takes runners from Caldbeck to Cartmel, taking in many of the well known Lake District peaks on the way. The runners are given the opportunity to bask in their surroundings as they travel from Caldbeck, on the northern edge of the Lakes, to Cartmel, in the south. The route takes in the summits of Blencathra, Helvellyn and Fairfield before descending to Ambleside and following the western shore of Windermere. Louise completed the course in 15h 42m 33s, finishing 13th lady. The race winner was Katie Kaars Sijpesteijn in 10h 46m 29s.
