Annie Hassell added this local classic to her growing list of victories in her first attempt, coming up the church steps over three minutes ahead of her closest challenger.
For an 8-mile race, Turnslack has to be one of the toughest around and it didn’t disappoint this time; the course may have been drier than usual but the bracken on the run-in seemed to be a foot higher. As usual there was a large turnout of Toddies for this local race, and the men managed a 9-10-11 finish with Danny Aspinall, Duncan Cannon and Chris Kay. Chris Dewhirst held on to Annie’s coat-tails for a really strong finish in 20th. Dave Collins just needs to turn up at the moment to take the V65 spot and he didn’t disappoint. Further down the field, a notable mention for James Richardson running in his first local race for the Harriers, after a couple of runouts further afield.
