Report by David Leslie
There was a good attendance at Alice’s Run on a beautiful Sunday morning in Mytholmroyd. This was the last of the Alice’s runs which have been organised in aid of Epilepsy Action – and it will be sorely missed in the 10K trail run category locally as it has always attracted a good field ranging from elite to walkers. Todmorden runners were engaged in a number of duels at the finish between club members. While the winner Jamie Fradgley from Stainland Lions did 36 mins 38 secs, Richard Butterwick came 4th in 39.55 having beaten Matt Flanagan into 5th place in 40.23 reflecting the friendly rivalry between these two for much of this season. Next home was Guy Whitmore 30th in 46 mins then another pair in Steve James, 47 mins and David Leslie just 4 secs later with both putting in a final sprint for the line. David in 41st place was first Vet 60 home. Further down the rankings Gemma Lord overtook Reg Czudek in the last few metres of the race and with both a creditable time just under the 60 minute mark.
Todmorden results: 4 Richard Butterwick 39:55; 5 Matt Flanagan 40:23; 30 Guy Whitmore 46:00; 38 Steve James 47:00; 40 David Leslie 47:04; 58 Sally Chesworth 51:04; 93 Gemma Lord 59:23; 95 Reg Czudek 59:26; 132 Rachel Whitaker 1:07:27; 137 Myra Wells 1:08:00; 154 Mel Whitmore 1:12:15.
