Pendle Half Marathon, 15 July 2017
Report by Jo Daniels
Todmorden Harriers were well represented at the Pendle Half Marathon, part of the Pendle Running Festival at the weekend. There were fine performances aplenty with Mel Blackhurst taking the glory of first lady overall in a fantastic time of 1.44.23 – Mel finished in 17th place overall. Other first place prizes were claimed by Darren Tweed, first V40 in 1.35.03 and 8th overall, and Myra first FV60 in 2.38.32 and 68th overall. Chris Goddard also had a storming run to finish in 4th place overall, but was just too young to win anything. The race is part of Todmorden’s Grand Prix – there were lots of important points to be gained, and the race was a vital qualifier for the Road category for several Todmorden runners.
