The Bernard Pierce Wadsworth Trog, 3 Feb
Report by Lucy Hobbs
The Bernard Pierce Wadsworth Trog took place on Saturday in harsh snowy and muddy conditions. The 19.5 mile local classic was attacked by a handful of hardy Todmorden Harriers. Paul Hobbs had a cracking run, he was 14th overall and third V40, Graeme Brown was next Toddie back in 67th place and on reflection should have worn long pants! Robert Halstead was 76th and Dan Taylor was 92nd. Melanie Blackhurst was first and only Toddie woman to finish in a time of 4.04.16, extended by her diversion around Sheep Stones when the end was in sight! Race winners were Carl Bell of Keswick in 2:39:20, and Nicky Spinks of Dark Peak in 3:26:03.
