Todmorden Road Championship continued with the Sweatshop 10, which had moved to a new venue at Bispham on Sunday. Unlike the old pancake flat course at St Annes, the new 2 lap loop along the promenade of Blackpool’s North Beach featured around 100m of undulations. Conditions were ideal with cool temperatures and light winds.
The race was also the Lancashire 10 mile championship race and attracted a high quality field.
There were personal bests for both Michael Harper and David Leslie.
The race was won by David Rigby of Preston Harriers in a time of 52.50. Nick Barber led the way for Todmorden, finishing first v40 and 7th overall in an excellent time of 57.06 just 11 seconds outside his PB. Richard Butterwick was the next Todmorden runner to finish in 38th place also narrowly missing out on a PB.
Nic Corrigan was 1st Tod lady home finishing 8th in the LV40 category.
New Todmorden recruit, Andy Walker in his first ever race ran a very creditable 1hr 12 minutes while Peter Ehrhardt took another step towards his landmark ’70 races at 70.’
Kevin Coughlan was Tod’s only runner in the Spen 20 finishing 122nd in a time of 2:54.05.
