Garstang Gallop, Sun 25 March

The aptly named Garstang Gallop road race drew seven Todmorden Harriers out to join 140 other runners in the spring sunshine at the weekend. The fast and furious rural course takes runners on a single seven mile loop. Todmorden’s Darren Shackleton was in fine form to finish 4th senior male and 5th overall in a time of 42.42. Richard Butterwick was close on his heels as 2nd MV45 and 8th overall in 43.18, with Chris Goddard coming home 3rd for Todmorden as 1st MV35 and 9th overall in 43.32. Matt Flanagan was 3rd MV45 and 12th overall in 44.14. Sarah Glyde was the first female home for Todmorden. She was 2nd FV40 and 4th female, finishing in 36th place overall in 49.49. Paul Brannigan (MV50) was 48th in 52.17. Peter Ehrhardt (MV70, pictured) was 135th in 1.12.17. Race winners were Joseph Monk of Lancaster University in 37.29, and Pauline Powell of Blackburn Harriers in 43.07.
