Rivington Pike Fell Race
Report by Paul Alexander
On Easter Saturday 13 Todmorden Harriers ran the Rivington Pike Fell Race, the first short fell race in the Todmorden Harriers Grand Prix. It is one of the oldest fell races in the country and involves 3 miles with 700 foot of climb from the Crown Hotel in Chorley. It is a true test for road, track and fell runners alike. Andrew Worster was 11th and first Toddie home, Duncan Cannon (pictured) was 43rd and Dan Taylor was third Toddie back and 103 overall out of a large field of 354. Pauline May was 12th lady and with Kim Ashworth and Michelle Fuller they were the second ladies team. Race winners were Nick Swinburn of Northumberland Fell Runners in 17:43, and Katie Walshaw of Ribble Valley in 21:13.
