Race you to the Summit Fell Race, 29 October 2016
Race Report by David Leslie
The last fell race on Todmorden Harriers club championships was ‘Race you to the Summit’, the 50th and final running of this classic. Organised by Alan Greenwood, the race goes from the Summit Public House up to the White House pub and back. The race started 49 years ago to settle a pub argument about whether the distance could be run in under 30 minutes. In this year’s race just 3 runners beat this mark. The Harriers had a total 27 runners competing. First home was Robert Tyson with a storming run closely followed by Ivan Gee and then Robin Tuddenham. Among the women Emma Fiedler came in second lady with Rosie Holdsworth and Jane Leonard the next Todmorden finishers.
