The Pennine 39 Ultra was in the Toddy Ultra Series on Saturday. The route follows a classic section of The Pennine Way. From Low Force past High Force in glorious Middle Teesdale, to the amazing Cauldron’s Snout and the high, remote and stark Cow Green reservoir. The route then shows off High Cup Nick before descending down to the lovely village of Dufton and then the long climb to Old Man Knock and the mighty traverse over Crossfell, the highest point of England outside of the Lake District. A long descent past the infamous ‘Gregs Hut’ to Garrigill, then riverside paths to the finish at Alston completes what is arguably the best section of the Pennine Way. 5 Toddies turned out among the runners on a warm, sunny day. Ben Holmes, Joolz Graham, Elise Milnes, Kim Ashworth and Louise Greenwood were amongst the runners who finished. Kim Ashworth and Louise Greenwood, fresh from her adventures from the Dragon’s Back just over a month ago, managed to secure joint 3rd Lady’s as they ran in together.
