From the Bronte 5 last Thursday to the Otley 10 this week (Weds 12/06), 12 Toddies ventured over to Otley for an unusual mid-week 10-mile race. There are lots of similarities to Caldervale 10 with hills that just keep on giving!
After a fast flat and downhill 6 km, the first of 3 hills appear where each one gets steeper and longer. Just over 9 km, there is a long fast descent only then to be hit by a 4th and steepest of all the hills. What goes up must come down, another fast descent and a flat finish, strangely past the start line for another 1 km finishing in the cricket ground.
Looking back at past results this race attracts some really fast runners and this year was no exception with the top 3 finishing 53:18 to 54:11.
For Todmorden, Duncan Cannon was first to finish in 38th overall with Will Tyson not far behind in 41st, and 3rd Mark Tempest in 57th. For the ladies, Rebecca Howell was first in for Tod in 65th, Kerry Edwards 176th and Katie Samuelson 177th. Taking part in a rare road race, Kerry Edwards was the only Toddy in the prizes winning first F50 age category.
