Mickleden Straddle Fell Race, Sunday 5 Feb

On Sunday, The Tod Harriers Grand Prix saw its 3rd race of the year over at Langsett, near Sheffield. Denby Dale AC hosted the Mickleden Straddle Fell Race. 14.3 miles and 2431ft of ascent over the northern Peak District moors and down into Howden Reservoir and back. Conditions underfoot were ‘moist’ at the best of times and the runners were treated to viesw of the snowy top moors if they had the time! The race was won by Joe Baxter of Pudsey in 1.39.47. 1st lady was Caitlin Rice in 2.01.34 (Unattached). 1st Toddy was Andrew Worster who finished 4th overall in 1.45.20 proving he’s out to defend his Fell title he won last year. But the Toddy prizes went to the Vet stars as Dave Collins won the male V60 (2.13.57); Rebecca Patrick won the Ladies V40 (2.22.36) and Mel Blackhurst won the Ladies V50!
