Several Toddies were in action at various race events over the May Day weekend:
Saturday 29th April
Calderdale Way Ultra 30 Miles – Tod 1st and 2nd Place
Stuart Hyslop and Darren Tweed led the entire field with Stuart winning in a commanding time of 4:47, fellow Toddy Darren finishing 2nd in 5:22.
Yorkshire 3 Peaks
7 hardy Toddies took on the famous Y3P. Graeme Brown was first Toddy over the line in 63rd out of 580 finishers. Ben Blosse was next in 134th and would have been higher up in the placings, but picked up a calf strain and suspected broken toe after a fall on the way to Ingleborough.
All Toddies finished in this gruelling race which saw over 100 DNF. So well done also to Gaz Pemberton, Peter Bowles, Duncan Ritchie, Kate Mansell and Stu Wostenholme.
Sunday 30th April
Great Hambledon Fell Race
Richard “Buddy” Butterwick was the sole Tod entrant at Great Hambledon finishing 38th out of 212 and 3rd V50.
Cragg Challenge 10 Miles – Another Tod 1st and 2nd Place
Two Toddies took on the 10-mile Cragg Challenge, 5 miles up, 5 back down. Alex Whittam winning comfortably by 13 minutes as Mark Tempest (eventually) took 2nd place. Alex broke the course record by around 1 minute in 58:53. Mark maintaining 100% entrance to the CC 10 Mile with best ever position of 2nd and a PB time of 1:11:43.
Monday 1st May
Coiners Fell Race
The traditional May Day fell race had a good turnout of 206 runners, 7 Toddies being part of the entrants. Performance of the day was Duncan Cannon finishing in 21st place with a time of 56:32.
Milton Keynes Marathon
The furthest travelled racing Toddy over the weekend was Sheldon Middleton, unsurprisingly the only Tod entrant in the MK Marathon. Sheldon and Lara were supposed to be running together but an unfortunate foot injury has prevent Lara from running for a few months now. That hasn’t stopped her making sure Sheldon stuck to his meticulous training plan and helped him secure a marathon PB of 3:38:06.
