Littleborough 5k, 3 May 2017
Race Report by Paul Alexander
The Tod Harriers Grand Prix fixtures continued with the Littleborough 5K Road Series on Wednesday 3rd May with 23 Harriers in action. This is the 2nd of the 3 race series and did not disappoint with a strong field of 158 runners.
Race winner Michael Mannings of Oldham & Royton H & AC held off Rob James of Royton Road Runners by 9 seconds to finish in 16.36.
In the Ladies race, Jen Bloor of Royton Road Runners won in 19.33 for 24th overall, more than 30 seconds ahead of second place teammate Sophie Wood.
The first Todmorden Harrier to finish was Andrew Worster, who was racing on tired legs following his epic Yorkshire 3-Peaks race just 3 days before. Despite the legs, he came an excellent 6th place in 17.17. Chris Goddard was 15th in 18.46. Having turned up without shorts and then begging for some from the race organiser, Paul Brannigan redeemed himself showing great form with a superb 18.55 to take the first v50 place. His prize – to keep the shorts!
Rebecca Patrick was the first Tod lady to finish with a time of 20.50 taking the v45 crown in the process for 44th overall. Peter Ehrhardt also won the v70 prize dipping under 30 minutes by 1 second.
