Lancaster Half Marathon and a Quarter

Maybe it has been in since, but it was back in 2008 and 2009 when it was definitely in our Road Championship.

It was announced at the start that they had to switch to their B course. The course is a fast flat lollipop route, offering the chance to see what is happening in other parts of the field.

Rebecca Howell led the Tod Ladies home, ducking under the 100 minute mark in a time 1:39.11.

Like everyone else in the race Rebecca reached the 12 mile marker thinking, surely that is in the wrong place. The explanation being that the course turned out to be a quarter mile over half marathon distance. This comes to 2 minutes for an 8-minute miler.

Ben Blosse and William Tyson were well matched, with Ben moving up a couple of places in the last stretch to make the top 10 in 1:23.57. William arrived 5 minutes later in 16th place in 1:28.11.

Emma Kerwin caught and passed Paul Brannigan around the 8-mile mark. They swapped places a few times until with a mile to go, when they agreed that with nothing left in their legs, they’d be better off crossing the line together in 1:42.25.

Kerry Edwards completed the Tod contingent, in what was effectively a sprint race after her 33-miler recently. Kerry’s time was 1:47.32 for 121st place in a  field of 347.

Branny.
