Saturday saw the classic Scottish fell race fondly known as ‘Jura’ take place in tough weather conditions on the Isle of Jura, one of most beautiful Scottish islands. One of the toughest British fell races at this distance (17 miles) with rough terrain, taking in 7 mountain summits and with nearly 8,000 feet of climbing this race isn’t for the faint hearted!
Faced with almost continuous driving rain and with the infamous island clag down navigation skills were much needed.
A handful of Todmorden runners took part with Dan Taylor being the first Tod finisher, followed by Rob Holdsworth. Phil Hodgson was celebrating his 12th Jura and Mandy Goth her 10th:-
Dan Taylor 5:19:53 (MV40)
Rob Holdsworth 5:38:12 (M)
Robert Halstead 5:45:03 (MV50)
Phil Hodgson 6:12:27 (MV60)
Simon Anderton7:05:07 (M50)
Mandy Goth 7:06:57 (FV50)
