On the road for the 2nd weekend in a row, 15 Tod Harriers competed in the unusual distance of 7 miles at the Dr Ron Hyde 7 miles road race. The 4th race in the Tour of Tameside series, in and around Hyde town centre with 460 finishers.
Like Norden the previous week, the race started with a steep 2.5km climb and was rarely flat on the rest of the course, finishing with a fast 1km downhill.
First Toddy over the line was Robin Tuddenham who felt quite at home with the start / finish being outside the Town Hall. Robin finished in 31st place with a time of 44.29 and 2nd M50.
Just 44 seconds separated the next 5 Toddies at the finish. Chris Goddard sneaked past Mark Tempest on the final descent to finish in 47.13 ahead of Mark’s 47.19. Amazingly Sam Lund and Janine McGregor-Stead crossed the line together in 47.28. And Mark Anderton 6th Tod in 47.57 as 2nd M60.
Janine was first lady overall and was excited at the prospect of having won £100! Only to find out it was £100 to donate to a charity of her choice. All for a good cause though.
