A Sunday morning trip to Bampton village, set in the Lowther valley, was required for the Todmorden Harriers taking part in the Haweswater Half Marathon, the 6th race in the club championship. The course was out and back from the village, passing along the shores of Haweswater in a remote and dramatic mountain valley. One of the perks of racing was that all entrants received a unique souvenir mug filled with hot tea and a piece of flapjack. The harriers had 12 competitors entered with Nick Barber being the first club member over the finish line. The standout performances were however from Katie Samuelson and Katch Skinner who both finished in the top ten of their categories. What was even more impressive was the fact that it was Katch’s first ever half marathon.
