Wadsworth Half Trog Fell Race, Sunday 13 Nov 2016
On Sunday, the Wadsworth Half Trog was hosted by Calder Valley from the Hare and Hounds pub. This race is a proper bog fest, with 9 miles of it as well. Navigation can be an issue but the day was clear and bright. The route heads up towards High Brown Knoll but the perfect route choice is hard to come by as the runners were scattered all over trying to find the ideal route to the trig point. From here its a steep, slippy descent down to Upper Dean Head reservoir and then a steep climb back up to the catchment drain resulting in a fast flat run towards Warley Res. From here, the fun begins as the runners head into the moors, battling against the bogs and heather as they head back over High Brown Knoll, Midgley moor and back towards the pub via Sheep Stones Trig point. Darren Graham was the first Toddy back in 15th place with a time of 1.25.00. Dave Collins scooped the V60 prize, coming in at 1.32.05 and a position of 29th place. Jane Leonard also took the Womens V50 2nd prize. Full results are….
