Groovy Kinder Love Fell Race, 30 Sep
Report by Darren Graham
Sunday saw the inaugural Groovy Kinder Love fell race over in Hayfield, High Peak. This new category AL fell race, organised by Pennine Running Club, took runners over wild moors and onto Kinder Scout. A point to point race with plenty of heather bashing made runners choose the best way to each checkpoint and as this was the first running, there were many choices. 16 miles and over 4000ft of climbing was the average distance and climb. Race officials were treated to low cloud over the hills in the morning but lifted for the start of the race at 11am.
Darren Graham was the only Tod Harrier on the starting line and finished 21st out of a field of 77 in a time of 3 hours 15 mins.
