Report by Darren Graham
A group of Toddies took part in the Great Lakes 3 Dayer, a 3 day mountain marathon where runners enter either as a team or as a solo runner. They then have 3 days of running along a set course, camping during the night at certain camping spots. There are 4 courses to choose from, Elite, A, B and the ‘Cafe’ class. The beauty of this event is that you can change courses each day. However, you only get a result if you stay in the same class on each day. Darren Graham took on the A class as a Solo runner, Elise Milnes teamed up with Calder Valley’s Linda Murgartroyd to run in the B class and Julie Graham ran the C class. The weather was epic with snow under foot and clear skies on the Saturday; Rain and low cloud all day Sunday and torrential rain and severe gales on the Monday morning, resulting in a revamped Bad weather course putting into place. Typically, all runners finished in glorious sunshine! Race Director, Shane Ohly had described this weekend event as the most difficult event ever due to the weather! Results pending.
