Cragg Vale Challenge, 24 Sep
Report by Darren Graham
The Cragg Vale Challenge took place on Sunday featuring 3 distances – 5k, 10k and 10miles. Each started in Mytholmroyd and had different turn around points up this popular local Yorkshire climb. The 10 miler used up the full 5 miles of the Cragg Vale climb before turning around for a fast and long quad-busting 5 mile descent.
Todmorden Harriers turned up with representatives covering each of the 3 distances. Toddies Matt Flanagan blasted up and down the 5k course in 19.03 to scoop first overall place whilst Andrew Walker snapped up the 10k win for the club. Robin Tuddenham went for the full 10 mile distance and came a strong 2nd place in 1:02:55 behind the speedy Shaun Livesey from Blackburn Harriers who won in 58:01. Peter Kerridge also came a very respectable 8th in 1:09:42. Mark Williams and Richard Blakeley also ran well for the Harriers.
