Settle Hills & Kettlewell Fell Races
Report by Jo Daniels
Annie Roberts of Todmorden Harriers crowned a fantastic weekend’s running by being selected to represent England and Great Britain. Her call up came as the result of taking first place in the Settle Hills Fell Race on Sunday morning. Annie raced home in 59.39 to take 1st female and an impressive 24th place overall. Attracting runners from all over the UK this stunning course in the Yorkshire Dales offers magnificent views of the limestone outcrops and caves of the Attermire Scar, after a challenging climb out the historic market town of Settle. Two other members of the Roberts family also competed in the event: Martin Roberts (MV60) finished 77th in 1.11.48 and Sue Roberts (LV50) finished 138th in 1.34.50. As if this wasn’t enough, Annie then went on to compete in the Kettlewell Fell Race in the afternoon. She topped off a fine day’s racing with 2nd place.
