Dalby Forest Canicross, 4 Feb
Report by Lucy Hobbs
Todmorden Harriers Rosie Holdsworth and Stuart Wolstenholme raced at Dalby Forest’s inaugural Canicross race on Sunday. Canicross, a fast paced and exciting format where racers run with their dogs towing them, attached by a harness and bungee, has developed from winter sled-dog racing and is becoming increasingly popular in the UK. Adele Antcliff took the win over the 5km course in an impressive time of 15:41 with her two Border Collies. Robin Lavin won the men’s race in 17:40 with a single dog. Both Harriers fared well with Wolstenholme and his Shetland Sheepdog Grohl 12th man to finish, in a time of 21:59 whilst Holdsworth and rescued Lurcher Scout finished 6th in the women’s’ field in 22:51.
