The inaugural Castle Carr Fell race, organised By Calder Valley Fell Runners was part of the Tod Harriers Grand Prix championships on Sunday. It was well supported with 11 Toddies setting out on a tough, 15 mile course with 4000ft of ascent, taking in the ‘delights’ of the Castle Carr estate and the moors above. In-form Andrew Worster finished 3rd, behind the class acts of Ben Mounsey and James Logue. Pre-Castle Carr, Andy was lying in 5th place in the Tod Fell Champs, but the Castle Carr result sees him leapfrog to the top of the table. However, he will have to keep an eye on the challengers just behind him: Nick Barber, Chris Goddard, and Jon Wright. With 3 fell races left, 2 of them being English and British Championship races, and only 5.2 point separating places 2-6, we should see interesting results in the Grand Prix!
Back to Castle Carr: Chris Goddard notably kept his nose in front of Paul Hobbs to finish 2nd Toddy. Full Toddy results:
