Todmorden’s Paul Brannigan cemented a successful year at national level by taking bronze, to go with his earlier championship gold, in the age 50-54 category at the British Masters Half Marathon Championships in Salisbury. Early on in the race Brannigan accepted he was feeling below par and settled into a 4-way battle for bronze with athletes from Sheffield, Dorset and Cornwall. Brannigan moved to the front of the group at 8 miles and steadily increased the pace until he was clear of the group with 2 miles to go finishing in 81.42. The race was won by Nigel Rackham in 76.35.
