Castle Carr Fell Race, 3 Sep 2017

The English Championship fell competition swept into Hebden on Sunday with the Castle Carr fell race run by Calder Valley. 210 runners turned up on the day to compete against the best in the country in the gruelling 14 mile race with 3773ft of climb. The route takes the runners through the private estate of Castle Carr twice along with a couple of climbs out of the Calder Valley before finishing back at the Hare and Hounds Pub in Old Town. Tod Harriers turned out in force on the day with 16 runners completing the course. Andrew Worster was the 1st Toddy back in 2.24.12 giving him 42nd place. However, the result of the day must come from Annie Roberts who came 3rd lady overall showing grit and sheer determination to outsprint the 4th lady at the end. Annie took 2.36.27 to finish in 62nd place overall but as well as getting 3rd lady, she also got the 1st lady under 23 prize as well!
