A cold wintry Sunday in January saw the 3rd staging of the Inskip Half Marathon near Preston. With temperatures plummeting below freezing, runners were keen to set off on time for the rural, mildly undulating route, on quiet country roads. Despite a few icy patches, the competitors were not deterred, with the 13.1 miles being quickly dispatched by the winner, Ian Livesey from Barlick Fell Runners in a time of 1:11:50. The Ladies race was subsequently won by Sarah Cumber from Halifax Harriers in an equally impressive time of 1:23:08.
Paul Alexander, the only Todmorden Harrier in attendance, paced the race well, comfortably seeing off his previous half marathon best by over 3 minutes, registering a very respectable time of 1.25.56 putting him in a 43rd place of 386 overall. This forms the first stake in the ground to the race build up for his Greater Manchester Marathon campaign planned for April.
