Wednesday 24th August saw the last race in the Rossendale Summer Series. A set of 4 races during August saw the Golf Balls fell race as the final counter race.
The route starts over in Rossendale and starts with a climb up to Great Hameldon Hill before descending north into the quarries and then the last climb up Hameldon Hill, past the Radar Golf ball and masts. Its then a long downhill finish with a few twists and turns before a short uphill to the finish. 5.75 mile of moorland with 1000 feet of climbing makes this a tough evening race.
4 Toddies joined in within the 115 starters with all competing for honours in the Summer Series.
Darren Shackleton finished 13th in the race with a time of 43:47 making him 4th Male Senior in the series.
Darren Graham finished 18th on the night with a time of 46:34 giving him first Male Vet 50 in both the race and also in the series.
Debbie Gowans, clinched the Ladies Vet 55 prize for the series by finishing third lady as well as first Lady Vet 55 on the night with a time of 51:56
James Riley, ever present in 3 of the 4 races was 3rd Male Vet 50 in the series buy finishing on the night in 48th place with a time of 53:56
