Tod Park 5k
The second of four 5k races in Tod Park took place last Thursday 9th July. The field was swelled by being part of the Burnley and Pendle Grand Prix, with 179 runners completing the distance. First Tod runner was Jane Mitchell, continuing her great first year for the club got another Personal Best at the distance. Reg Czudek and Ian Stansfield completed the Tod Entries, Ian getting the biggest cheer of the day finishing in last position. The next race is on Thursday 23rd July starting at 7.15pm, registration at the Hare and Hounds pub from 6pm.

Addingham Gala Fell Race
It was a case of quality over quantity at the Addingham Gala Fell Race where Todmorden’s only entrant was Dave Collins. Dave had a great run for 28th place in 49.05. Dave was second V55 1 place behind the first placed runner in his category.
Radcliffe 3 Day Event
Last Thursday/Friday/Saturday saw the Radcliffe 3 day event. This features a Fell Race on the Thursday, Cross Country on the Friday and a Trail race on the Saturday. Todmorden were represented throughout by Richard Butterwick and Peter Erhardt. Richard improved his bests for each of the routes from last year to finish a commendable 14th place overall. Peter still working through his ’70 races in his 70th year’ challenge, reeled off races 41, 42 and 43 to finish in 51st place overall for the 3 day series. Dave Garner joined in on the Bull Hill Fell race finishing well up the field in 39th. Myra Wells completed the Trail race in 81st position.

Hoofstones Fell Race
This Saturday sees a new fell race for the area, which visits ground which has not been raced on previously. The race is 8 miles long and features a navigational challenge, with runners finding their way across the moors above Todmorden. The route visits Noah Dale and the Trig Point at Hoofstone Heights, which at 480m is the highest point around Todmorden. On a clear day it is possible to seen see blackpool tower and most days you can see the Yorkshire 3 Peaks. The race registration is at the Staff of Life from 9.30am with a start time of 11am.
