Starting in Barley, the Pendle 3 Peaks race takes runners on a rollercoaster route around Pendle Hill. Packing in over 2800 feet in just over 9 miles, conditions on Saturday were wet underfoot with a strong headwind, particularly on the run to the final trig at Big End. Chris Holdworth of Ribble Valley Harriers cruised to victory in the men’s race finishing in 1.20. The women’s race was another win for Tod Harriers’ superb racer Annie Roberts who finished in 1.43. Kate Mansell was next back in the women’s s race in 5th in 1.59. With Rosa Blackwell coming in 8th in 2.10, this was enough for the Tod ladies to secure the team prize. Sally Chesworth put in a strong performance to finish 17th and 2nd V50 in 2.19. First home for Tod Harriers’ men was Graeme Brown, who put in another strong run to finish 7th overall and 1st V40 in 1.30. Duncan Cannon was next in 1.42 followed by James Riley in 1.48, a 3 minute PB. Mark Whitaker completed the quartet in 2.04.
