The Noon Stone Fell Race was discontinued in 2011. This was due to access issues caused by environmental concerns about part of the race route.
The race was originally conceived by Brian Schofield in 1993 as a summer (August) event. The event was moved to a winter slot in 1997 after a series of very hot weather episodes! Andrew Horsfall took over the race admin and organisation.
The race was twice chosen as an English Fell Championship event in 2010 and 2004.
